Description

The Flamingo Mangi Dog Slow Feeder Bowl is a plastic slow feeder bowl in taupe, moulded with raised ridges across the base so a dog has to work food out of the gaps instead of swallowing it in a few mouthfuls.

Key Features

  • Raised ridges across the base spread a meal out, which typically turns a thirty-second bowl into several minutes
  • Two sizes: 500 ml for small dogs, 1500 ml for medium and large ones
  • Non-slip feet, so the bowl stays put rather than being pushed around the kitchen
  • Smooth moulded plastic with rounded channels that a brush can actually reach
  • Made by Flamingo Pet Products, a Belgian pet supplier based in Olen with more than 45 years in the trade

Using It

  • Serve the normal ration, not extra. A slow feeder changes the speed of a meal, not the amount
  • Dry food works best. Wet food packs into the channels and defeats the point
  • Give it a few meals. Some dogs sulk at first, and a dog that gives up hungry needs the food tipped into a flat bowl at the end
  • Wash it after every meal. Ridged bowls hold grease in the corners
  • Always leave fresh, clean drinking water alongside

Good To Know

  • Slowing a meal down is sensible for a dog that gulps, brings food back up, or belches through the evening
  • Bloat and gastric torsion are often mentioned alongside slow feeders. Fast eating is one recognised risk factor among several, but no bowl prevents bloat — deep-chested dogs remain at risk and sudden bloating is an emergency
  • A determined dog will tip a plastic bowl over to empty it. If yours does, weight it down or wedge it in a corner
  • Not a puzzle toy. A dog that needs its brain occupied wants something it has to solve, not just a slower bowl
