Description
The Dophin PS-2012 is a hang-on protein skimmer for marine aquariums. It pulls dissolved organic waste out of the water before it breaks down into nitrate, using a needle impeller to generate the fine bubbles that make skimming work. A skimmer is the one piece of equipment a reef tank will not do without.

Setting It Up
- Clean the skimmer before first use, with water only and no chemical cleaners.
- Fix it to the aquarium wall and adjust the screw so it sits level.
- Remove the collection cup and fill the pump casing with water to about 50 mm above the pump.
- Turn the air inlet controller to CLOSE, then connect the power.
- Start the pump and let it fill the tube with water.
- Turn the air inlet controller to OPEN. The skimmer begins working.
- Allow at least 24 hours of break-in. Wet foam during this period is normal; clean it off as it forms.
- After break-in the foam dries out into a sludge, which is the skimmate you empty from the cup.
Safety
- Disconnect from the mains before removing or servicing the skimmer.
- Do not run the pump dry.
- Indoor aquarium use only.
Good To Know

- Designed for saltwater. A skimmer does very little in freshwater, where there is not enough surface tension to hold the foam.
- Empty the collection cup before it fills. A cup left to overflow puts the skimmate straight back into the tank.
