Description
The Dophin SH280 is a slim hanging filter rated at 230 litres an hour, running mechanical and biological stages in one unit on the back of the tank. The de-oiler is included, which is the part that clears the oily film off the surface, and the outlet returns as a waterfall for gas exchange.
Key Features
- 230 L/h at 3.8 W on 220–240 V / 50 Hz mains.
- De-oiler included, lifting the surface film that blocks gas exchange.
- Ultra quiet submersible pump.
- Mechanical and biological filtration in one system.
- Waterfall outlet, which oxygenates as the water returns.
- Adjustable flow control.
- Quick cartridge change, with space for an optional bio cartridge.

Setup & Maintenance
Hang the unit on the back rim with the intake well below the water line, and keep the tank topped up so it never draws air. When you change the cartridge, leave some of the old media in the chamber for a week or two so the bacterial colony carries over rather than starting again.
Safety
- Disconnect from the mains before servicing.
- Do not run the pump dry.
- Indoor aquarium use only.
Good To Know
- Hang-on filters clamp to the tank rim, so check that your lid or bracing bar leaves a gap for the body to sit in.
- At 3.8 W it costs very little to leave running around the clock, which is how a filter should be run.
- The bio cartridge the chamber will take is optional and is not included.
