Description
The Exotic Nutrition Mealworm Keeper Bedding & Food is wheat bran bedding for live mealworms that doubles as their food.
Key Features
- Single ingredient: wheat bran
- Bedding and food in one, so the worms keep feeding between uses
- Mix in Exotic Nutrition Mealworm Chow to gut-load before feeding
- About 1 cup per 250 live mealworms; roughly 1/2 lb per 1,000 medium mealworms
- 1 lb (454 g)
Keeping Live Mealworms
- Keep them in a well-ventilated container with the bedding spread evenly
- Add a slice of raw potato or carrot for moisture, and replace it before it moulds
- Refrigerating at 7–10 °C puts them into dormancy for up to about 10 weeks
- Take them out once a week, let them feed at room temperature for 24 hours, then remove uneaten vegetable and refresh the bedding
Good To Know
- Insects held dormant for weeks lose nutritional value — gut-load for 1–2 days before feeding them on
- Don't let the bedding get damp; mould spreads through a colony quickly
- Store in a cool, dry place
