ProDen PlaqueOff Seaweed Oral Care Powder for Dogs - 20g

ProDen PlaqueOff Powder for Dogs is the form the range started with: a seaweed powder measured by scoop over the day's food. It carries the VOHC seal, and it is the only product here sold in four sizes.

Key Benefits

• VOHC Accepted - the Veterinary Oral Health Council seal for helping control plaque and tartar, printed on the tub.
• A scoop over the food - no treat to accept, no chew to finish, nothing for a fussy dog to refuse.
• A.N. ProDen seaweed, organically certified, with an Irish Organic Association mark on the label.
• Four tub sizes, so a small dog is not buying six months of powder to try it.
• Reducing plaque, preventing tartar, treating bad breath - the three claims on the front.

The Daily Scoop

ProDen's directions go by the dog's weight, not the tub: one scoop under 25lb, two scoops between 25 and 50lb, three scoops above that. The metric version of the same guide reads one to ten kilos, ten to twenty-five, and twenty-five upward - and the illustration beside the lightest band is a cat sitting next to a small dog.

What ProDen Says The Numbers Are

One month of daily use, on the brand's published trial: 32 per cent less plaque, 35 per cent less tartar and 67 per cent less gingival bleeding, with results varying between individual dogs.

Good To Know

• Four sizes exist because this is a long game. The smallest tub is for finding out whether the dog will eat it; the largest is for after you know.
• Not recommended for dogs with hyperthyroidism. Seaweed carries iodine; check with your vet if the thyroid is a known issue.
• The tub carries an Irish Organic Association mark, and the composition panel gives crude ash at 22 per cent.
• The scoop lives in the tub. It is easy to throw out with the seal, and the doses are set in scoops rather than grams.
