PURINA PRO PLAN VETERINARY SUPPLEMENTS Calming Care is a daily probiotic for cats, containing Bifidobacterium longum BL999, a strain shown to help cats maintain calm behaviour and support a positive emotional state.

The mechanism is worth understanding, because it is not a sedative and does not work like one. BL999 acts on the gut-brain axis, the two-way signalling between the digestive system and the brain. Gut flora influence that signalling, and this strain was selected because it shifts it in a direction that helps cats cope. Nothing about it makes a cat drowsy. It also supports a healthy immune system.

Important: It Takes Time

This is not a same-day product. Results are typically seen at around six weeks of daily feeding. If you are buying it ahead of a known disruption, a house move, building work, a new pet, start well in advance.

When to Use It

• Cats that hide, withdraw or startle easily
• Disruption to territory: a house move, new furniture, building work
• A new pet or new person in the household
• Multi-cat households with tension between cats
• Alongside environmental changes such as extra hiding places and vertical space, not instead of them

How to Use

• Give one sachet daily, sprinkled over your cat's normal food, or as directed by your vet.
• Allow around 6 weeks for results, and keep going daily throughout.

Please note: a veterinary examination is recommended before using this product. Behaviour changes in cats frequently have medical causes, including pain and urinary problems, and a cat that has suddenly started hiding, over-grooming or toileting outside the tray should be seen by a vet rather than supplemented. This is a complementary feed, not a medicine.
