The Exo Terra Natural Terrarium Medium/Wide is a 60 x 45 x 45 cm glass habitat designed by European herpetologists — a wide footprint that suits ground-dwelling species.

Why the Wide Format

Terrestrial reptiles — leopard geckos, bearded dragons, skinks, many snakes — spend their lives at ground level, and what they need is floor area, not height. A wide terrarium gives more usable space for the same volume of glass, and more importantly it gives room for a proper temperature gradient from a hot basking end to a genuinely cool retreat. That gradient is how a reptile regulates its own body temperature, and an enclosure too small to provide one is the single most common husbandry failure.

Important: The Screen Top and UVB

The screen lets UVB through, but mesh still filters a share of it — in some cases up to half. If you mount a UVB bulb above the screen, choose a stronger bulb than you would for an open setup, or mount it inside.

Setting Up

• Place on a level, load-bearing surface. Filled with substrate, water and decor this is heavy.
• Keep out of direct sunlight — glass traps heat fast and a sunlit terrarium can become lethal within hours.
• Run it for several days and confirm temperatures and humidity before the animal goes in.
