Why Not Just Use Any Furniture

Weight. A glass terrarium filled with substrate, rockwork, a water dish and decor is far heavier than people expect, and a paludarium heavier still — water alone weighs a kilogram per litre. Ordinary shelving and flat-pack sideboards are rated for books and televisions, not for a concentrated load sitting on four small feet, and a stand that fails under a glass terrarium is a genuinely serious accident.

This cabinet is built to carry a medium terrarium and to sit it at a sensible viewing and working height, which also makes daily maintenance considerably less awkward.

The Storage Is the Other Half

Reptile keeping generates equipment — spare bulbs, substrate bags, supplements, tubs of live crickets and locusts. The enclosed cabinet keeps all of it in one place and, importantly, out of sight directly beneath the terrarium rather than scattered around the room.
