The Exo Terra Light Dome Bracket suspends a Light Dome or wire light fixture above your terrarium instead of resting it on the mesh.

Why Suspend Rather Than Rest

Two reasons, and the safety one is the more important.

A dome sitting loose on a screen top can be knocked off. A hot lamp falling into an enclosure — or onto the floor beside it — is a genuine fire and injury risk, and it happens more often than people expect: a cable snags, a lid is opened carelessly, a cat jumps up. A bracket holds the fixture in place.

The second is heat. A dome pressed flat against mesh traps its own heat with nowhere to go, which shortens bulb life and can scorch the screen. Lifting it clear improves ventilation, and basking lamps last noticeably longer for it.

Suspension also lets you fine-tune height, which is how you set basking temperature and UV distance accurately.

Compatibility

For Exo Terra Natural Terrariums and other compatible glass terrariums. Fits the Exo Terra Light Dome and most similar dome and wire fixtures. The light fixture is sold separately.

Setting It Up

• After fitting, re-measure your basking surface temperature. Raising the lamp changes it, sometimes considerably.
• Check UV distance too — a UVB bulb moved further from the animal delivers proportionally less.
• Make sure the bracket is fully tightened before leaving the enclosure unattended.
