The Exo Terra Compact Terrarium Top is a canopy for 90 cm Exo Terra glass terrariums with four light sockets, letting you build a complete lighting system in one fixture instead of balancing several separate domes on the lid.

Why Four Sockets Is Useful

A properly lit terrarium needs more than one kind of bulb. UVB fluorescents give the UV a reptile needs to make vitamin D3 but almost no visible light and no heat. A daylight bulb gives brightness and colour but no UVB. An incandescent adds warmth.

Four sockets let you run all of these at once and tune the ratio of ultraviolet to visual light to your species — combining, for example, a UVB 150 with a Natural Light and a low-wattage incandescent, rather than compromising on a single bulb that does everything moderately.

The built-in reflector then pushes the output downward instead of letting it escape into the room.

Setting It Up

• For Exo Terra glass terrariums 90 cm wide. Measure before ordering.
• Bulbs are sold separately. Choose a UVB bulb suited to your species, and add a daylight bulb for visual output.
• Do not exceed 26W per socket.
• After fitting, measure basking temperature and check UV distance at the basking site.
