The Exo Terra Natural Terrarium Mini/Wide is a 30 x 30 x 30 cm glass habitat designed by European herpetologists — the smallest in the Natural Terrarium range.

What This Size Suits

A 30 cm cube is right for small invertebrates, dart frogs, small geckos and hatchlings. It is a well-made enclosure, but it is genuinely small, and it is worth being honest about that before buying: a leopard gecko, crested gecko or bearded dragon will outgrow it, and most keepers who start here end up buying twice.

The other consideration is the temperature gradient. Reptiles regulate their body temperature by moving between warm and cool areas, and in a 30 cm enclosure there is very little distance between the two. A basking lamp of any real wattage will heat the whole box. If you use this size, heat it gently and measure both ends.

Setting Up

• Keep out of direct sunlight — a small glass box in the sun overheats within minutes.
