How To Use It

• Wet the coat thoroughly with warm water first. Shampoo will not reach the skin through a dry double coat.
• Work it in until a rich lather builds, from the neck down so suds run away from the face.
• Rinse until the water runs clear. Shampoo left in a coat is the usual cause of itching after a bath.
• Towel off, then dry with a dryer and brush the coat as it dries.
• Cover the ears while you rinse.

The Two-Wash Method

This is how a salon handles a properly filthy dog. Wash once with this to get the dirt out, rinse, then wash a second time with whatever suits the coat -- Silk Supple for a long coat, Soothing Fountain for sensitive skin, White Coat for a pale one. The first wash does the work and the second does the finish.

Follow With Conditioner

Groomers Choice recommend the Nutriment Conditioner afterwards on longer coats, and it is worth it. A deep clean opens the hair up; the conditioner is what closes it again, which is the difference between a coat that combs out in ten minutes and one that fights you.

• Soap-free and paraben-free, which is what the range is built on. It does contain fragrance and colourants, so it is not the one for a dog that reacts to everything -- that is the Soothing Fountain.
• A dog that is greasy or smelly again within days of a bath usually has a skin condition behind it rather than a dirt problem.
• A shampoo cleans; it does not treat disease. Broken, scabby or weeping skin, bald patches, a smell that returns within days of a bath, or scratching to the point of bleeding all need a vet rather than a different bottle.
• Avoid the eyes. If any gets in, flush thoroughly with clean water.
• Cover the pet's ears when you rinse.
