Groomers Choice Ear Powder - For Dog - 3.8L

Part of the Groomers Choice Spa Series, this powder does one job. Ear hair is slippery when damp and almost impossible to grip. A light dusting absorbs the moisture and oil so the hair dries, stiffens and comes away cleanly with forceps or a clip instead of tearing.

How To Use It

• Clean the ear first and let it dry.
• Carefully trim any excess hair around the opening of the canal.
• Sprinkle a small amount into the ear. A little is plenty -- powder packed into an ear cakes with wax and makes things worse.
• Massage the ear gently to dry the hair.
• Remove the hair a few strands at a time with forceps or a suitable grooming tool.

Should You Pluck Ear Hair At All?

Worth saying plainly, because the answer has changed. Routine ear plucking used to be standard on every poodle, doodle and spaniel that came through a salon. Current veterinary thinking is more cautious: pulling hair out leaves open follicles and an inflamed canal, which can make infection more likely rather than less, so many vets now advise plucking only where there is a reason for it -- a canal so full of hair that air cannot circulate, or a dog with a history of ear disease that the vet wants kept clear.

If your dog's ears are healthy and the hair is not causing trouble, trimming the hair around the opening is usually enough. If the ears are a recurring problem, ask your vet what they want done rather than deciding by breed.
