Description
The Aqua Medic Nitratereductor NR Blue is an anaerobic biological reactor that lowers nitrate in salt and freshwater aquariums up to 1,000 litres.
Key Features
- 5 L Reactor: with an internal circulation pump.
- Slow Flow: runs at 1 to 4 litres an hour, so oxygen is used up and nitrate-eating bacteria take over.
- Media Included: supplied with Deniballs and Bactoballs.
- Stand-Alone Or In A Filter: a closed unit that can stand under the aquarium or be built into a filter system.
Good To Know
- For a steady water flow, Aqua Medic recommend their SP 3000 dosing pump, sold separately.
- To monitor and control the process, an mV controller with a pressure-resistant electrode can be added.
- Feed the bacteria with Denimar powder or Mini-Deniballs.
- It takes several weeks for the bacteria to establish before nitrate falls.
